I was very proud of my dad, who has bad knees, for saying he'd give it a try & climbing over. My mom also, had no reservations and is always up for anything. Once over the entrance, we hiked in the gorgeous canyon. We followed the sandy trail through the winding curves created by water, in and out of some pretty tight spaces. There was a really narrow portion of the canyon about 45 minutes into our hike that was somewhat blocked by large boulders that piled up from a previous flood. That was where we stopped, but the trail goes on in a loop for 8 miles. The kids loved hiking, climbing, playing with sandstone and watching it crumble, and building cairns (trail markers) for future hikers.
