Thanksgiving, Utah style, started off with Bill's tradition of running the Cottonwood Heights Turkey Run 5K with his buddy Paul H. The run goes right past our house, so we always stand on the back deck and cheer him on with a "Go Daddy!"
We headed over to my parents house for a great Cajun Turkey from Dad, all the fixings from mom including her famous 7 layer salad, appetizers from us, and pie from Lisa.
For any major holidays that require a large amount of meat consumption, Dad heads off on a "Turkey Hunt" to his co-worker's catering side business and picks up a yummy bird. Last year, he took a very nervous, and wide-eyed Adrian along, playing it up until Dad realized Adrian really thought he would have to shoot a Turkey!
Then, the Packer game and rustling through the sale ads (with help from the twins) before we begin round 2 of eating. Yum!
I have to tell you that the gingerbread house did not make it... Grandma tried diligently to save it, but every time it was slapped with more frosting by one of the boys, it would cause a collapse. It became a cause... a mission... save the gingerbread house! Just when you thought "there's no hope... it's over", there she'd be trying just one more time to hold it together... it was comedy! Kiran was happy to take the weight off by eating the candy, and Adrian and Noah snuck off a few too. Within minutes, the three were buzzing around the house on a sugar high. Grandma gave me a look as though to say, "don't even think about buying one for Christmas". Well, I wouldn't do that now would I?
