We took a road trip to San Jose to celebrate Matthias' 2nd birthday, and then took a week to drive up the coast into Oregon.We had a great time staying with Steph & Natalia (also her mother, Nadia who is visiting, and my mom & dad came out for the weekend as well). We ate excellent food -- Natalia & Nadia are fantastic cooks, and Steph makes incredible ribs that Noah is still talking about! Matthias loved his cake & candles and we sang Happy Birthday in English & heard it sung in Russian with the birthday boy singing along! He especially loved it when everyone clapped for him! Very cute!
The cousins had a fun afternoon swimming & splashing in the pool together after we arrived.
On Sunday, we headed for Santa Cruz and spent the afternoon on the beach playing in the ocean & digging in the sand, and ended the evening with a delicious dinner on the wharf.
Can you see the fog waiting offshore in the second photo? The fog was with us our entire trip up the coast and when it rolls in look out, it gets cold!
