To celebrate Birthdays at Noah's school, a candle is lit to represent the Sun and the child carries a globe “around the sun” to represent the passage of each year. The child walks around once for each year old he is. After each full circle, he pauses on the month he was born to discuss what he was like at that age. I brought in a posterboard with a picture of Noah at 1 day, 1 year, 2,3 4 & now 5 and looked up what notes I'd taken in his baby book to write some of his "likes" at each age.
Back at home, we had a small party for Noah with Grandpa & Grandma, Aunt Lisa, Kiran, & Adrian, and Noah's two neighbor buddies Fina and George. Everyone liked the chocolate cake and chocolate ice cream! Bill is in Calgary for work this week, and would've loved to be here for this, but since Noah is well aware this year what exact date is his birthday, we couldn't get away with delaying it. Later in the month, we'll be holding a combined party with Noah's friend Ella to celebrate with Bill & more of Noah's friends and school buddies.
