We celebrated the night before with a great dinner at Cucina Toscana while the kids had a fabulous sleepover at camp Grandpa & Grandma's. I loved the birthday candle that they brought in a strawberry on the tiny little cup filled with homemade hot chocolate!
On his birthday, Bill wanted to go downtown to see the Tour of Utah bike race. We all enjoyed seeing the racers fly by & Bill even shouted a hello to the 2006 Tour de France winner, Floyd Landis, who turned & smiled. (Ok, so he was stripped of his title for enhancement drugs... but still. A brush with fame.)
The kids love to wrestle with daddy, so they gave him a good one before supper! Bill yelled as they tackled him, "this would've never happened at 39!"
I baked his favorite carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, and Noah put the candles on top. That was a lot of fire on that cake! The twins kept asking throughout the day "what kind of party is daddy having?" "when are we going to turn on the birthday party?"As we were sitting around the table eating our pieces of cake, Noah said "For my next birthday, I want it to be just like this... just us, having cake."
