We drove to our hotel at Dana Point, just south of Laguna Beach for some beach time. It was so nice to just relax and be lazy for a few days. We walked to Doheny State Beach, which was just across the road from our hotel (and a State Campground that we'd love to stay at on the beach) on the first afternoon. The kids loved to dig in the sand and see the ocean. The next day, we swam in the pool in the morning and drove a few minutes south to San Clemente for a nice beach afternoon.
Bill took each of the boys for some water time and I took sand & photo duty. The waves were very strong, and there were over 30 surfers in the water right in front of our spot -- so we didn't try to swim. We were able to watch a crane on a barge off in the distance lowering rocks into the water, creating an artificial reef.
